San Antonio Spurs standout point guard De’Aaron Fox will make his season debut on Saturday against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans, the team said Friday.

Fox, 27, has been recovering from an offseason right hamstring injury.

Fox was acquired from Sacramento in early February last season after his representatives informed the Kings that Fox wouldn’t sign a long-term extension with the club.

Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists in 17 games with the Spurs after the trade. He averaged 25.0 points and 6.1 assists in 45 games with the Kings.

The 2022-23 All-Star spent 7 1/2 seasons with Sacramento. He has career averages of 21.5 points and 6.1 assists in 531 games (517 starts).

The Spurs (5-2) have lost two straight games entering Friday night’s home contest against the Houston Rockets. The club is currently without No. 2 overall draft choice Dylan Harper (left calf) and offseason free agent acquisition Luke Kornet (ankle).
