Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee is the latest name on the radar in the Los Angeles Lakers’ coaching search.

The Athletic reported Thursday that the Lakers have requested permission to interview Lee, 37, who has been on coach Mike Budenholzer’s staff in Milwaukee since 2018.

He is the second Bucks assistant linked to the Lakers’ vacancy, along with Darvin Ham. Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin and former NBA head coaches Terry Stotts and Mark Jackson are also said to be under consideration.

Los Angeles fired coach Frank Vogel last month after finishing 33-49 and missing the playoffs.

The defending champion Bucks hold a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Boston Celtics. Game 6 is Friday night in Milwaukee.

Lee previously worked as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks (2014-18) and at his alma mater Bucknell (2012-14). He was the Patriot League’s Player of the Year in 2005-06 and a two-time conference tournament MVP.
