Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum missed Boston’s Wednesday road game against the Phoenix Suns due to his sprained left ankle.

Tatum worked out on the court before the game with a trainer before being ruled out less than an hour prior to tipoff.

Tatum left the Celtics’ Monday victory over the Sacramento Kings in the third quarter due to the injury and was initially listed on Tuesday as doubtful to play against Phoenix. He was upgraded to questionable on Wednesday afternoon after going through a workout.

Tatum, 27, is averaging 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and career-high 6.0 assists in 66 games this season.

Boston doesn’t play again until Saturday, when it visits the San Antonio Spurs.
