RFK Racing named longtime sports executive Chip Bowers as its new team president on Thursday.

Bowers was the Miami Marlins’ president of business operations from 2018-19 before serving as president of Elevate Sports Ventures, a global sports and entertainment agency.

His work history also includes time as chief marketing officer for the Golden State Warriors and stints with the Orlando Magic, San Diego Padres and Seattle Storm.

“Chip brings a fresh perspective that we’re really excited about,” team owner and driver Brad Keselowski said. “He has proven he can grow organizations and think creatively in some of the most competitive sports markets, and that experience will help us find new ways to strengthen our team.”

Bowers replaces Steve Newmark, who departed in July to become the executive associate athletic director at the University of North Carolina. Newmark had been the president of the team since 2010, overseeing the transition from Roush Fenway Racing to RFK Racing in 2022.

“I’m honored and thrilled to be joining one of NASCAR’s premier racing teams,” Bowers said. “As both a fan of the sport and a North Carolina native, this is truly a full-circle moment for me in my career. I’m incredibly appreciative of Jack Roush, John Henry, future Hall of Fame driver and owner Brad Keselowski and our esteemed board of directors for asking me to be a trusted partner in leading the organization to new heights.”

All three of RFK Racing’s drivers — Keselowski, Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece — missed the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs this season.
