When Jordan Morris went down with a shoulder injury that required surgery last month, it was fair to wonder how the Seattle Sounders would fill the net without their franchise’s career goal-scoring leader.

Thanks to Danny Musovski and Osaze De Rosario, it hasn’t been a problem.

Musovski, dubbed “The Moosiah,” by coach Brian Schmetzer, and De Rosario, the son of former MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario, have helped the Sounders to a nine-match unbeaten streak in all competitions (6-0-3), including a 3-0-3 run in league play.

The Sounders (10-6-8, 38 points) will look to continue that streak when they face the defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy (3-14-7, 16 points) on Sunday night in Carson, Calif.

De Rosario and Musovski scored second-half goals in a 2-1 victory Wednesday against Club Tijuana as the Sounders completed the first phase of the Leagues Cup against Liga MX with a 3-0-0 record.

Seattle scored 11 goals in the Leagues Cup and has 25 overall during its nine-match streak.

“It’s a good offense to be a part of right now,” said Musovski, who has eight goals in MLS play.

Both the Sounders and Galaxy reached the Leagues Cup quarterfinals, with L.A. going 2-0-1 in its three matches in the first phase. The Galaxy routed Santos Laguna 4-0 Thursday night as Matheus Nascimento tallied twice and Mauricio Cuevas had a pair of assists.

“I think maybe the best first half we’ve had all season,” said Galaxy coach Greg Vanney, whose team led 3-0 at the intermission.

“It was just a couple of final touches away from probably being four or more in the first half, that’s how good some of the attacking was … the chance creation, the movement, the running, I thought it was all excellent. Getting the goal on our first possession set the tone for the night and gave us a lot of confidence.”

This is the first meeting between the clubs since the Galaxy defeated Seattle 1-0 on Nov. 30, 2024 in the Western Conference final.
