Petar Musa and Logan Farrington scored goals as struggling FC Dallas won for just the second time in their last five matches, defeating the L.A. Galaxy 2-0 on Saturday night at Frisco, Texas.

Musa has scored in three consecutive matches and four of his last five as Dallas combined its usual strong offense with stingier defense than in most recent matches.

Goalkeeper Maarten Paes recorded one save for Dallas (7-11-5, 26 points), which produced only its fifth clean sheet in MLS play this season — and two of those ended in draws.

The outcome avenged a two-goal loss from this spring and pushed Dallas to a 25-9-7 home record in the all-time series with the Galaxy.

The Galaxy (12-5-7, 43 points) failed to win for just the third time in their last 10 matches. They managed only two corner kick opportunities.

Dallas has registered at least two goals in six of its last seven MLS matches. The latest output came in the team’s third match in seven days after fitting in a U.S. Open match since a loss at Sporting KC on July 7.

Musa has 12 goals this season after converting in the 28th minute. An initial shot was blocked on a kick save from Galaxy goalkeeper John McCarthy.

Farrington’s goal came in the 55th minute with Asier Illarramendi assisting. It was the rookie’s second goal.

The sequence on Farrington’s goal included a long leading pass by Illarramendi from beyond midfield combined with a defensive breakdown from the Galaxy. Farrington broke free on the right side and blasted the ball past McCarthy.

The Galaxy were without team scoring leader Dejan Joveljic, who was scratched because of an injury.
