FC Cincinnati extended midfielder Obinna Nwobodo’s contract through 2027 on Thursday.

The 28-year-old Nigeria international’s deal includes a club option for 2028.

Nwobodo has two goals and 11 assists in 117 matches (all competitions) since joining FCC in April 2022.

“Since arriving three years ago, Obi has been a fundamental part of our success,” general manager Chris Albright said. “He’s relentless in how he approaches the game, on and off the field, and he’s an exceptional teammate and leader for our group. We’re delighted to have Obi and his family stay in Cincinnati.”

Nwobodo helped win the 2023 Supporters’ Shield for Cincinnati, which currently sits first in the Eastern Conference with a 9-3-1 record (28 points).
