CF Montreal declined Albanian striker Giacomo Vrioni’s 2026 contract option Monday, opening a designated player spot on the roster.

Vrioni, 27, scored four goals in 10 appearances across all competitions during his first season with Montreal in 2025.

He recorded 16 goals and one assist in 67 MLS matches (41 starts) from 2022-24 with the New England Revolution, who traded him to Montreal last winter.

After finishing 13th in the Eastern Conference and missing the MLS Cup Playoffs, Montreal (6-18-10, 28 points) made several end-of-season roster moves on Monday.

The team also declined contract options for defender Fernando Alvarez and midfielder Bryce Duke, and extended goalkeeper Sebastian Breza through 2027 with options for 2028 and 2029.
