Austin FC acquired defender/midfielder Joseph Rosales from Minnesota United FC in exchange for $1.5 million, the clubs announced Tuesday.

Minnesota retained a percentage of any future trade or transfer fee if the player is traded or sold above a certain monetary amount.

Rosales, 25, signed a new contract with Austin through June 2029 with an option for the 2029-30 season. The native of Honduras holds a U.S. green card as a permanent resident and will not occupy an international roster slot.

Rosales recorded five goals and 20 assists in 128 matches across all competitions with MNUFC from 2022-25. He has made 34 appearances for the Honduran national team, including nine matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying cycle.
