MLS: Austin FC acquire D Adam Lundkvist from Dynamo

Austin FC acquired defender Adam Lundkvist from the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday in exchange for $500,000 in general allocation money.

Both teams announced the terms of the deal. Houston will receive $300,000 in 2023 GAM and $200,000 in 2024.

“We’re delighted to have Adam join Austin FC. He’s a player with a proven skill set as a left back in MLS,” Austin director of player personnel Sean Rubio said in a news release. “We wish him a warm welcome to the Club and to the city.”

Lundkvist, 28, spent the past five MLS seasons with the Dynamo, recording 12 assists in 121 matches (111 starts). He had a career-high five assists in 31 appearances (30 starts) last season.

Prior to joining Houston, he posted three goals and 18 assists in 145 games with IF Elfsborg in his native Sweden from 2011-18.

Lundkvist holds a U.S. green card and will not occupy an international roster slot in Austin.
