The New York Yankees reinstated right-hander Luis Severino from the 60-day injured list Wednesday, a formality ahead of his scheduled start hours later against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Severino, 28, went on the 15-day injured list on July 14 with a right lat strain. He moved to the 60-day IL on Aug. 1. He was 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 16 starts before going on the shelf.

In a corresponding move, the Yanks optioned infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Andujar, 27, is batting .229 with a homer and nine runs in 27 games with the Yankees.

Severino is 48-29 with a 3.43 ERA in 119 career games (104 starts) since making his Yankees debut in 2015.

The Yankees also transferred the rehab assignments of RHP Albert Abreu and RHP Stephen Ridings from Double-A Somerset to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
