New York Yankees right-hander Luis Severino will begin a rehab assignment Friday at Class-A Tampa.

The two-time All-Star started facing live hitters in practice two weeks ago.

Severino went on the 15-day injured list on July 14 with a right lat strain. He moved to the 60-day IL on Aug. 1.

He was 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 16 starts before going on the shelf.

Severino, 28, is 48-29 with a 3.43 ERA in 119 career games (104 starts) since making his Yankees debut in 2015.
