New York Yankees right-hander Jake Cousins will be shut down for four to five days after experiencing pectoral discomfort following a live batting practice session, manager Aaron Boone said Saturday.

“We don’t think it’s anything serious, but enough to hold him down,” Boone told reporters.

Cousins has been working his way back from an elbow strain since spring training. He has yet to pitch in the 2025 season.

He posted a 2-1 record with one save and a 2.37 ERA in 37 relief appearances last season, his first with New York.

Cousins, 30, owns a 5-2 record with one save and a 2.78 ERA in 88 career relief appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers and Yankees.
