The Chicago White Sox hit three home runs, starting pitcher Jonathan Cannon supplied a solid effort and the team finally won again, topping the host Baltimore Orioles 8-1 on Wednesday night.

Nicky Lopez, Andrew Vaughn and Dominic Fletcher delivered the homers as the majors-worst White Sox (32-109) halted a 12-game losing streak.

Lopez went 3-for-4 with a walk, Lenyn Sosa posted three hits and knocked in two runs, and teammates Gavin Sheets, Luis Robert Jr. and Vaughn all added two hits.

Cannon (3-9) worked 5 2/3 innings, shedding a personal skid of losses in four straight starts and winning for the first time since Aug. 6. He held Baltimore, which had amassed a total of 22 runs in the first two games of the series, to one run on five hits. Cannon struck out four and walked one.

Fraser Ellard, Gus Varland and Justin Anderson worked in relief for Chicago, which won for the first time in seven meetings with the Orioles (81-60) this year.

Baltimore lost for just the second time in its last six games as it’s locked in a tight race with the New York Yankees atop the American League East. Gunnar Henderson homered and had three of the Orioles’ seven hits, while Cedric Mullins notched two singles.

Orioles starter Albert Suarez (7-5) was tagged for six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Baltimore, which is off Thursday, tapped into five relievers to get through the latter portion of the game.

Both teams had lead-off home runs in the first inning.

Lopez hit his first of the season for the White Sox. Henderson countered with his 35th for Baltimore.

It was just the seventh career homer for Lopez, a shortstop who broke into the big leagues in 2019. The long ball was his second since 2021.

Vaughn’s 16th homer and Fletcher’s first homer – a two-run shot – came in the fourth. Fletcher, a second-year big leaguer, has three career homers.

Robert’s second hit of the game was a run-scoring double in the fifth and Sosa delivered a sacrifice fly later in the inning to push the White Sox to a 6-1 lead.
