The Chicago White Sox reinstated closer Liam Hendriks from the 15-day injured list and outfielder Adam Engel from the 10-day IL on Monday prior to their series opener against the visiting Minnesota Twins.

Hendriks, a right-hander, has not played since June 10 due to a right forearm strain; he was placed on the IL June 14, retroactive to June 11.

An All-Star in 2019 and 2021, Hendriks led the American League in saves last season (38) and was tied for the AL lead with 16 when he went on the IL. The 33-year-old Australian had a streak of 10 scoreless outings before his IL stint. He is 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA.

Engel, 30, has been out since June 23 with a right hamstring strain. He is batting .240 with one home run, 11 doubles, 10 RBIs and 18 runs. Of his 56 games played this season, 42 have come in right field.

In corresponding moves, Chicago optioned outfielder Adam Haseley and right-hander Jimmy Lambert to Triple-A Charlotte.
