MLB: White Sox reinstate 1B/3B Miguel Vargas from injured list

The Chicago White Sox reinstated first baseman/third baseman Miguel Vargas from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Vargas, 25, has been sidelined since Aug. 1 with a left oblique strain.

He is batting .229 with 13 homers, 25 doubles and 44 RBIs in 106 games this season, his second with Chicago.

Vargas batted .314 with three homers, nine RBIs and 11 runs in his last 12 games before the injury.

The White Sox also called up Yoendrys Gomez from Triple-A Charlotte, optioned fellow right-hander Elvis Peguero to Charlotte and designated outfielder Corey Julks for assignment
