The scheduled Wednesday night game between the Colorado Rockies and the host Kansas City Royals was postponed due to rain.

The contest was delayed more than two hours and 15 minutes before it was called. The Royals said it was postponed “out of an abundance of caution.”

The game will be made up Thursday as part of a doubleheader. The first game is slated to start at 1:10 p.m. CT.

Left-hander Cole Ragans (1-1, 3.58 ERA) will start Game 1 for Kansas City. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen (1-3, 4.57) is slated to start the second game. Lorenzen was the scheduled Wednesday starter.

Colorado right-hander German Marquez (0-3, 8.27), the scheduled Wednesday starter, will pitch the opener on Thursday. Right-hander Chase Dollander (1-2, 7.36) will start the second contest.

Kansas City won the opener of the three-game series, 4-3 in 11 innings on Tuesday. The loss was Colorado’s 11th straight on the road.
