The New York Mets are acquiring second baseman Marcus Semien from the Texas Rangers for outfielder Brandon Nimmo, multiple outlets reported Sunday night.

Semien has three seasons remaining on a seven-year, $175 million deal. The 35-year-old missed the final 5 1/2 weeks of the 2025 season due to a broken left foot. He fouled a pitch off the foot on Aug. 21.

Nimmo has five seasons left on an eight-year, $162 million contract. The 32-year-old reportedly agreed to waive his no-trade clause to accommodate this deal.

Semien, a three-time All-Star, spent the past four seasons with the Rangers and was a key cog on their 2023 World Series championship team. He had 29 homers and 100 RBIs while playing all 162 games in the regular season that year.

Last season, he batted .230 with 15 homers and 62 RBI in 127 games before the foot injury.

Overall, Semien has a .253 average, 253 homers and 801 RBIs in 1,629 career games with the Chicago White Sox (2013-14), Athletics (2015-20), Toronto Blue Jays (2021) and Rangers.

Semien has finished third in American League MVP voting with three different teams – the A’s in 2019, the Blue Jays in 2021 and Rangers in 2023.

Nimmo, 32, first reached the majors with the Mets in 2016 and has played in more than 150 games in each of the past four seasons. He established career highs of 25 homers and 92 RBIs last season, when he batted .262 in 155 games.

Overall, Nimmo has a .262 average with 135 homers and 463 RBIs in 1,066 games with New York.
