The Texas Rangers have landed free agent shortstop Corey Seager on a 10-year deal worth $325 million, multiple outlets reported Monday.
It’s the latest splash for the Rangers, who have also landed free agents Marcus Semien (7 years, $175 million) and starting pitcher Jon Gray (4 years, $56 million). All three agreements are pending physicals.
The $556 million outlay far exceeds the Rangers’ $410 million in payroll over the last four seasons combined, per ESPN.
The Rangers have a .431 winning percentage over the past five years.
Seager, 27, moves to the American League after seven seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors, two All-Star nods and a World Series MVP. The Dodgers took Seager in the first round of the 2012 draft.
He has a career slash line of .297/.367/.504 with 104 home runs and 394 runs scored.
