The Tampa Bay Rays have decided that 70 games of action was convincing enough to offer 20-year-old infielder Wander Franco a 10-year contract extension in the range of $150-$200 million, according to a report out of the Dominican Republic.

Franco, who finished third in American League Rookie of the Year voting, batted .288 in his rookie season with an .810 OPS, seven home runs and 39 RBIs. He batted .314 after the All-Star break.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays declined to comment on the report from the publication El Caribe. The report added that negotiations between Franco’s camp and the club are ongoing.

With Franco’s club control and arbitration years ahead, the Rays maintain the infielder’s rights for another six seasons. A 10-year deal would buy out his first four free-agent years. There are indications, though, that those parameters could be changed during the ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations.
