The Cleveland Guardians and second baseman Andres Gimenez are in agreement on a seven-year, $106.5 million contract extension, The Athletic reported Tuesday.

The deal, which is pending a physical and includes a $23 million option for an eighth season, would be the largest pre-arbitration contract ever for a second baseman, per the report.

Gimenez, 24, was a first-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner last season when he batted .297 with 17 homers, 69 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 146 games.

“I am aware of expectations for this year,” he told Cleveland.com last week. “All I can control is my preparation. Just pay attention to the little things that allow me to have the good results and the kind of year I just had.”

Gimenez is hitting .274 with 25 homers, 97 RBIs and 39 stolen bases in 263 career games with the New York Mets (2020) and Guardians.
