The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy from the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday for cash considerations.

The Tigers designated Malloy for assignment on Dec. 21 to clear a roster spot for reliever Kyle Finnegan.

Malloy, who turns 26 next month, batted .221 with only one home run in 127 plate appearances last season.

He hit .209 with nine homers, 38 RBIs and 117 strikeouts in 123 games since making his debut with Detroit in 2024.

Originally drafted in the sixth round by the Atlanta Braves in 2021, he was traded to the Tigers in December of 2022.
