The Baltimore Orioles recalled their No. 4 prospect, outfielder Heston Kjerstad, from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday and designated infielder Nick Maton for assignment.

Kjerstad, 25, made his major league debut with the Orioles late last season and has 44 at bats in the big leagues. He appeared in seven games for the Orioles earlier this season, batting .143.

He’s batting .300 with 16 home runs and 14 doubles with a .998 OPS at Norfolk this season.

Kjerstad was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Arkansas but had a rough start to his career. He missed the 2021 season because of the heart condition myocarditis, and was limited in 2022 by a serious hamstring injury.

Kjerstad is the No. 21 major league prospect overall, according to MLB Pipeline.

Maton, 27, appeared in just one game this season, his first with the Orioles. The Orioles acquired him from the Detroit Tigers in February in exchange for cash considerations.

In 180 career games, Maton has posted a .208 batting average with a .306 on-base percentage, a .361 slugging percentage, 15 homers, 63 RBIs and 58 runs.
