Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to headline the Tigers’ season-best 18-hit attack and Reese Olson scattered four hits in seven shutout innings as visiting Detroit routed the Chicago White Sox 10-0 on Saturday.

Six Tigers had multi-hit games as the team roughed up White Sox starter Mike Clevinger. Spencer Torkelson, Akil Baddoo and Kerry Carpenter each had three hits, while Zach McKinstry and Parker Meadows had two apiece.

Detroit has won three games in a row for the first time since Aug. 8-10. The White Sox have lost four of their last five.

Olson (3-6) benefited from the offensive onslaught. He had one strikeout and issued zero walks, and none of the hits he allowed went for extra bases. Miguel Diaz and Alex Faedo retired the last six White Sox in order as Detroit pitchers combined to face one batter over the minimum.

Chicago placed Clevinger on waivers this week, but the veteran right-hander cleared them, keeping him with the White Sox. He was coming off a victory against Oakland last Sunday, when he pitched seven innings of one-run ball with two walks and a season-high 10 strikeouts.

Things soured quickly enough for Clevinger against the Tigers.

After retiring the first two hitters, he allowed five straight hits. The fourth hit in that sequence was a two-run homer to left-center from Andre Lipcius. It was Lipcius’ first career major league hit.

Detroit added a pair of two-out runs in the second inning courtesy of McKinstry’s RBI single and a Torkelson RBI double. The Tigers did the last of their damage against Clevinger in the fourth, as Torkelson doubled home another run ahead of a Cabrera run-scoring single.

Clevinger (6-7) allowed eight runs on 12 hits in four innings, with zero walks and two strikeouts.

The White Sox did not advance a runner into scoring position while grounding into four double plays. Trayce Thompson had a single and an outfield assist for Chicago.

Cabrera logged the 49th four-hit game of his career and his first since Sept. 8, 2021.
