The Seattle Mariners traded infielder Mike Ford to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash on Saturday.

Ford, 29, was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Monday, six days after he was brought up from Triple-A Tacoma. He did not appear in a game in his short stint with Seattle, who signed him to a minor-league deal on March 16.

In 11 games with Tacoma this season, Ford hit .317 with two home runs and five RBIs and scored 10 runs.

Ford spent parts of the past three seasons with the New York Yankees. He appeared in 101 games and hit .199 with 17 home runs and 41 RBIs.
