Jose Miranda and Ryan Jeffers combined for eight hits and seven RBIs as the Minnesota Twins pounded the Detroit Tigers 12-3 on Thursday afternoon in Minneapolis.

The game was called in the bottom of the seventh due to inclement weather.

Miranda went 5-for-5 and scored four runs while driving in three. Jeffers’ three hits included a homer along with four RBIs as the Twins took two of three games in the series.

Bailey Ober (8-4) gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits in six innings while striking out eight.

Detroit starter Kenta Maeda (2-5) was rocked for nine runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. Colt Keith homered and Jake Rogers drove in two runs.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Keith’s fifth home run of the season two batters into the game.

Detroit caught a break while extending its lead to 3-0 in the second. With two down, Zach McKinstry struck out. The pitch bounced off catcher Jeffers’ glove and headed toward the backstop, allowing McKinstry to reach first.

He advanced to third on Gio Urshela’s single. Both runners scored when Rogers doubled down the third base line.

Minnesota got those runs back in the bottom of the inning. Miranda led off with a double and scored on Jeffers’ double. Jeffers advanced to third on Max Kepler’s single and scored on Brooks Lee’s sacrifice fly.

The Twins took a 5-3 lead in the third. Carlos Correa reached on an infield single and Trevor Larnach walked. Miranda also reached on an infield hit to load the bases.

With two outs, Kepler bounced a single into left field, scoring two runs. Another infield single by Manuel Margot knocked in Miranda.

Minnesota scored four two-out runs in the fourth to make it 9-3. Maeda walked Correa and Larnach before Miranda ripped a double to center, bringing in both runners. Jeffers then blasted his 14th homer.

The Twins upped their lead to 11-3 in the sixth against Joey Wentz. Carlos Santana walked and Miranda singled. A wild pitch allowed both runners to move up before Jeffers reached on another infield single. That allowed Santana to score, and a throwing error by Wentz brought home Miranda.
