Right-hander Jose Berrios will be the Toronto Blue Jays’ Opening Day starter against the visiting Texas Rangers on April 8.

The team said Thursday that Kevin Gausman, Hyun Jin Ryu, Alek Manoah and Yusei Kikuchi will follow Berrios in the rotation if there are no weather interruptions.

It is the third season-opening start for Berrios, who earned the honor with the Minnesota Twins in 2019 and 2020.

Berrios, 27, was 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 12 starts for the Blue Jays last season after being acquired in a July 30 trade with the Twins. He signed a seven-year, $131 million contract extension with Toronto in November.

A two-time All-Star, Berrios owns a 60-47 career record with a 4.04 ERA in 148 games (147 starts) with Minnesota (2016-21) and Toronto. He has struck out 857 batters in 851 2/3 innings.
