The San Francisco Giants fired manager Gabe Kapler on Friday after four seasons leading the club.

The news was announced hours before the Giants began a season-ending home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants (78-81) will miss the postseason for the third time in four years under Kapler.

Kapler, 48, won National League Manager of the Year in 2021 when he led the Giants to an NL West division title with a franchise-best 107-55 record. The Giants lost to the Dodgers in five games in the NL Division Series.

Kapler is 295-248 as manager of the Giants. He previously spent two years (2018-19) as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, finishing his tenure there 161-163.
