Tyler Wells threw six quality innings, Dylan Beavers hit a two-run home run and the visiting Baltimore Orioles posted a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox to complete a three-game sweep on Wednesday afternoon.

Wells improved to 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA in three starts since making his season debut on September 2. The 31-year-old allowed one run on four hits, striking out four and walking none. Beavers homered for the second time in as many games for the Orioles (72-80), who have gone 11-4 in September.

In the ninth, Keegan Akin worked around Chase Meidroth’s leadoff single to earn his seventh save in 13 tries this season.

Martin Perez (1-6) surrendered three runs on five hits across 3 2/3 innings for Chicago before exiting in the fourth with left shoulder soreness. Perez struck out two and walked two for the White Sox (57-96), who have dropped six straight games. Five Chicago relievers combined to throw 5 1/3 scoreless frames in the loss.

In the first, Gunnar Henderson singled and advanced to second on left fielder Will Robertson’s error. After Tyler O’Neill’s walk, Henderson stole third and then scored the game’s first run on Jeremiah Jackson’s infield single.

Baltimore tacked on in the fourth, as Coby Mayo singled and Beavers clubbed his third home run since making his major league debut on August 16, extending the Orioles’ lead to 3-0.

Two batters later, Steven Wilson replaced the injured Perez and struck out four over 1 1/3 innings.

Mike Tauchman cut Chicago’s deficit to two with his ninth homer of the season to begin the fourth.

Yaramil Hiraldo threw a perfect seventh in relief of Wells, who exited after 89 pitches.
