With major league rosters expanding from 26 players to 28 on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers called up veteran second baseman Kolten Wong and rookie right-hander Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

In a corresponding move to add Wong to the 40-man roster, the Dodgers outrighted infielder Yonny Hernandez to Triple-A.

A two-time Gold Glove winner, Wong signed with the Dodgers on Aug. 9 after being released by the Seattle Mariners. He hit .539 (7-for-13) in three games at Oklahoma City.

In 67 games with the Mariners this season, the 32-year-old Wong batted .165 with two homers and 19 RBIs.

Over 11 seasons, Wong is a .256 hitter with 84 homers, 397 RBIs and 118 steals in 1,169 games with the Cardinals (2013-20), Milwaukee Brewers (2021-22) and Mariners.

Sheehan, 23, went 3-1 with a 5.63 ERA in eight games (seven starts) for the Dodgers earlier this season in his first big-league stint. Los Angeles selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.
