The Chicago Cubs activated All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker from the 10-day injured list on Friday after missing more than three weeks with a strained left calf.

Tucker was in the lineup as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for Friday’s series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cubs entered the final weekend of the regular season with a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres for the National League’s top wild-card slot.

Tucker, 28, has not played since Sept. 2. He is batting .270 with an .854 OPS, 22 homers, 73 RBIs and 25 stolen bases in 133 games in his first season with Chicago.

The Cubs optioned infielder Carlos Santana, 39, to the Arizona Complex to make room for Tucker on the active roster.
