The Milwaukee Brewers obtained veteran first baseman Carlos Santana from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.

Santana, 37, will play for the sixth team of his 14-year career.

Pittsburgh received shortstop Jhonny Severino in return. The 18-year-old is playing in the Arizona Complex League.

Santana batted .235 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs in 94 games for the Pirates. He hit three of the homers in the just-concluded three-game series against the San Diego Padres.

The switch-hitting Santana has 290 homers and 978 RBIs in 1,878 major league games. He has batted .242 and slugged .431 during his career.

Santana spent his first 11 seasons with Cleveland, earned his lone All-Star appearance in 2019 when he tied his career high of 34 homers and established career bests of 93 RBIs and a .281 average.

Severino was a 2022 international signee for $1.23 million. He is batting .250 with four homers, 10 RBIs and five steals in 12 games in the ACL.
