The Los Angeles Angels activated rookie catcher Logan O’Hoppe from the 60-day injured list Friday after he recovered from a shoulder injury and optioned catcher Chad Wallach to Triple-A Salt Lake.

O’Hoppe, who was acquired last year in the trade that sent outfielder Brandon Marsh to the Philadelphia Phillies, was off to a fast start this season with a .283 batting average, four home runs and 13 RBIs in 16 games.

A labrum tear on a swing during an April 20 game against the New York Yankees kept O’Hoppe out for nearly four months. His return comes after early estimates suggested O’Hoppe could be lost for the remainder of the season.

After a handful of games with the Angels last season, O’Hoppe is a career .284 hitter in 21 major league contests.

Wallach, 31, was batting .209 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs in 58 games for the Angels this season. In seven seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2017), Miami Marlins (2018-21) and Angels (2022-23), he is a career .202 hitter with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs in 148 games.

Also on Friday, the Angels moved third baseman Anthony Rendon to the 60-day injured list as he continues to struggle with a left shin contusion. Rendon, who has not played since July 4, was batting .236 with two home runs and 22 RBIs in 43 games.
