MADDEN: Top seeds set to square off in Madden Bowl

The top two seeds, No. 1 Jacob “Fancy” Worthington and No. 2 Jonathan “JonBeast” Marquez, will square off in the Ultimate Madden Bowl after winning their semifinal games on Wednesday.

The title belt and $250,000 first prize will be handed out on Feb. 7 in New Orleans, the same city where the Super Bowl will be held two days later. The Madden Bowl festivities will include performances by country singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton, rapper/singer Jelly Roll and country/hip-hop artist Shaboozey.

The runner-up will receive $150,000.

JonBeast, from Hartford, Conn., will be in search of his fourth career Madden Championship Series title belt. Fancy, from Frisco, Texas, will be vying for his third.

In the semifinals, JonBeast defeated third-seeded Abram “Abram” Joseph of Houston 31-21, and Fancy eliminated 13th-seeded Taylor “BigTay” Hodge of Atlanta 52-45.

The last two quarterfinal matches were contested earlier on Wednesday. Abram eked out a 25-23 win over 11th-seeded Seamus “Kiv” Kivlen of Seattle, and BigTay recorded a 35-20 victory against 12th-seeded Tyjhir “TJ” Joyner of Dover, Del.
