Mads “Viggomopsen” Mikkelsen beat Arnas “arnax” Stepanauskas 4-2 to become the Red Bull Solo Q champion on Sunday.

The official 1v1 League of Legends tournament concluded with the World Finals at BMW Welt in Munich, pitting the top 20 players competing in a two-day offline final for the title.

Viggomopsen went unbeaten during the group stages and didn’t drop more than one game in the finals until meeting arnax in the final. arnax opened the final by winning the first game and was able to reach 3-2 before the Dane clinched the title.

“I think I really screwed up a lot, I should have won the matchup quite easily but I kinda panicked a couple of times,” Viggomopsen said. “But thankfully the pick was too strong late game, so even though I was really nervous and really stressed out I still got it.”

arnax reached the final after the Lithuanian was able to secure 3-2 wins over both Shakara and Potatis before beating HULKSMASH 3-1.

“The experience overall was great,” arnax said. “I just took it one game at a time, I wanted to not come last place so going top two is great for me. I like all the guys, I’m really great friends with them all right now, so it’s been great.”

The Red Bull Solo Q began in April and featured more than 40 national and international qualifiers. Amateur players competed for a spot in the Regional Finals before the event moved on to head-to-head competition in the National Finals.

Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, who has been the face of the competition for the past three years, was on-site for the World Finals.

The Solo Q features a unique format with 1v1 duels where the player must draw “First Blood,” take down the opponent’s tower or reach a 100-minion score to claim victory.
