Gen.G Esports pulled off a 3-2 win over Top Esports to move to the upper-bracket final Saturday at the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 in Chengdu, China.

Gen.G got off to a 2-0 lead and had a match point on the third map, which Top fought off to get on the board. In the fourth round, Top won again, tying the match at 2-2.

A reverse sweep was not to be, however, as Gen.G captured the fifth and deciding map.

Gen.G now move to the upper bracket final and will meet the winner of Sunday’s scheduled semifinal between T1 and Bilibili Gaming.

Top fell to the lower bracket quarterfinals and will play the winner of Sunday’s match between G2 Esports and PSG Talon.

In lower bracket play Saturday, Team Liquid topped Fnatic 3-1.

Liquid grabbed the early 1-0 lead with a 30-minute win on red, with Fnatic taking a 27-minute win on blue to tie it up. Liquid pulled away with a 30-minute triumph on blue, followed by a 29-minute win on red.

With the defeat, Fnatic were eliminated. Liquid moves on to play the loser of the match between T1 and BG in a lower bracket quarterfinal.
