A pair of sweeps marked the opening day of the group phase on Saturday in the LTA North 2025 Split 2 of the League of Legends tournament.

FlyQuest won their opener over 100 Thieves in 30 minutes and 28 minutes, both on red.

Team Liquid downed LYON in 34 minutes on blue and 33 minutes on red.

Sunday matches are Cloud9 versus Disguised, and Shopify Rebellion against Dignitas.

Next weekend, FlyQuest faces Shopify Rebellion, and Team Liquid takes on Disguised on May 3; then Cloud9 battles LYON, and 100 Thieves plays Dignitas on May 4.

Group A: Team Liquid, Cloud9, Disguised, LYON. Group B: FlyQuest, Dignitas, Shopify Rebellion, 100 Thieves.

Eight teams competed in positioning play — a round-robin format in which each team plays the other seven once. Each match is one map and the results determined Groups A and B for the group stage, which began Saturday and runs through May 18.

Following the group stage and one week of cross-group battles, the top six teams will advance to the best-of-five, double-elimination playoffs on May 24-June 15.

The total prize pool is $160,000, with $80,000 going to the winner and $40,000 to the runner-up. The winner also receives entry into the Mid-Season Invitational and the winner and runner-up qualify for the Esports World Cup.
