The International 10, which wrapped up Sunday, drew the top viewership numbers in Dota 2 history, according to Esports Charts (escharts.com).
Team Spirit defeated PSG.LGD 3-2 in the grand final of TI10 at Bucharest, Romania to take the championship. Spirit earned a Dota 2 record $18.2 million for the first-place finish, part of an immense prize pool of more than $40 million.
The grand final peaked at 2.7 million viewers (across all platforms excluding China), making it the most watched Dota 2 event ever. The figure represented a 37 percent increase over its peak in 2019. (The event wasn’t held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic).
With Russia-based Team Spirit capturing the title, more than 1.2 concurrent viewers watched Russian-language streams of TI10 on Sunday, a record in the Commonwealth of Independent States region, per Esports Charts. The report added that it was the first time Russian-language coverage drew more viewers than English-language coverage, 1.2 million to 1 million.
According to the Esports Charts, TI10 finished its run with the third-most viewers ever for an esports event, though it is likely to be bumped down to No. 4 soon with the League of Legends World Championship still underway.
