Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander announced that he is retiring as a professional Counter-Strike player and plans to transition into a coaching role.

gla1ve, 30, was benched by ENCE in July in favor of Rigon ‘rigonN’ Gashi after a stint with the team that included a win at the Elisa Masters Espoo. He came to ENCE after spending the majority of the previous seven years with Astralis.

A four-time Major winner, the 30-year-old former in-game leader said that at this stage of his career he believes he can make a bigger impact supporting a team.

“I believe I’m the first tier 1 IGL to transition into coaching in CS2,” gla1ve told HLTV. “This gives me a deep and up-to-date understanding of the meta and a unique edge. Coaching allows me to leverage my experience and my understanding of the game to develop players and shape a winning culture from the sidelines.

“I believe I can contribute more strategically, build stronger teams and have a long-lasting influence on the next generation.”

gla1ve said that he had always planned on entering coaching following his playing days and that it’s a “proactive choice” to begin “the next chapter with purpose.”
