Goals by Nicolas Ibanez and Uriel Antuna in the first 10 minutes sparked Tigres UANL to a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday at San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico, sending the hosts to the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals.

The contest was the second leg of a two-game, total-goal series. The teams played to a scoreless draw last week in Carson, Calif.

Tigres advance to face another Mexican side, Cruz Azul, in the two-legged semifinals. Cruz Azul edged Club America 2-1 on Tuesday to complete their quarterfinal series with an aggregate victory by the same score.

Romulo also scored for Tigres. Joseph Paintsil and Carlos Garces replied for the Galaxy.

In the ninth minute, Tigres’ Diego Lainez delivered a cross from the left flank, and Ibanez knocked in a glancing header to open the scoring.

Just over a minute later, Antuna fired home a 12-yard goal with a left-footed shot off an assist from Rafael Carioca.

Paintstil took advantage of a Tigres giveaway in the back to score into a largely vacated net in the 40th minute, but Romulo restored the hosts’ two-goal advantage with a header in the 57th minute.

Garces scored in the 60th minute after a knockdown on a corner kick.
