The Los Angeles Thieves won a back-and-forth battle with the Vancouver Surge to wrap up the Call of Duty League Stage 2 Minor on Sunday.

The Thieves took the best-of-seven grand final 4-3 to claim the first prize of $20,000 and 30 Call of Duty League points. The Surge picked up 20 league points but no money.

The Thieves and Surge both swept their way into the grand final earlier in the day. Los Angeles defeated the Carolina Royal Ravens 3-0 in one semifinal, and Vancouver blanked the Toronto Ultra by the same score.

All 12 CDL teams competed in the tournament. The single-elimination bracket was seeded based on teams’ standing following Major 1. All matches were best-of-five until the grand final.

The Surge began the grand final with a 250-187 victory on Hacienda Hardpoint. The Thieves bounced back with wins on Vault Search & Destroy (6-5) and Vault Control (3-0).

Vancouver came back with close victories on Vault Hardpoint (250-237) and Redcard Search & Destroy (6-4) to take a 3-2 map lead. Pushed to the brink, Los Angeles shut out the Surge 3-0 on Hacienda Control to tie the match, and clinched the title 6-3 on Skyline Search & Destroy.

The Surge dispatched the Ultra with wins on Vault Hardpoint (250-226), Protocol Search & Destroy (6-4) and Protocol Control (3-0).

The Thieves took out the Royals Ravens with a 250-165 win on Vault Hardpoint, a 6-5 verdict on Hacienda Search & Destroy and a 3-0 clincher on Hacienda Control.
