Danish esports organization Astralis has officially been taken over by a group called Fusion Esports Group, according to esports reporter Richard Lewis.

The transaction became official on Sept. 5, and comes months after Astralis began looking for a buyer, according to multiple reports. At the time, former Ninjas in Pyjamas COO Jonas “calc” Gundersen was believed to be among those interested in acquiring Astralis’ brand and assets, along with potential Chinese and Middle Eastern groups.

However, months later it is Fusion Esports Group that has made the move, taking over 100 percent of Astralis A/S. Financial terms are not yet known.

The group’s director is listed as Jakob Lund Kristensen, a co-founder of Astralis and BLAST who also was the founder and CEO of Copenhagen Wolves from 2012-16. The Danish business registry lists Fusion Esports Group as part of the JLK Holdings, which “had been defunct for some time,” according to Lewis.

After serving as the Executive Vice President of Sales for BLAST from December 2016 to August 2019, Kristensen returned to Astralis as the Chief Revenue Officer until January 2023. According to Lewis’ report, Kristensen’s bid wasn’t the highest but was considered the “most desirable for continuity.”

Last week, Astralis announced that Emil “Magisk” Reif was returning to the organization’s Counter-Strike roster with Martin “stavn” Lund taking a break from competition. The team’s next scheduled competition is FISSURE Playground 2, beginning Sept. 12.
