The Baltimore Orioles claimed Jake Cave from the Twins on Wednesday after the veteran outfielder had been placed on waivers in an effort by Minnesota to make room on its 40-man roster.

Cave, 29, spent his entire major league career with the Twins, appearing in 335 games over the past five seasons. He hit .235 with 33 home runs and 118 RBIs during his time in Minnesota and finished this past season with a .213 batting average to go along with five homers and 20 RBIs in 54 games.

In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Jake Reed was designated for assignment.

The Twins had also placed catcher Caleb Hamilton and infielder Jermaine Palacios on waivers as part of their roster moves on Tuesday. Hamilton went to the Boston Red Sox, while Palacios was claimed by the Detroit Tigers.

Cave joins an outfield brigade that includes Cedric Mullins, Austin Hays, Gunnar Henderson and Jorge Mateo. Baltimore finished the regular season with a 83-79 record and just missed a wild-card spot by three games.
