WTA: WTA roundup: Barbora Krejcikova reaches semis in Estonia

Seventh seed Czech Barbora Krejcikova won 78.6 percent of her first-serve points while knocking off third seed Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-3, 6-4 on Friday to reach the semifinals of the Tallinn Open in Estonia.

Krejcikova broke her Brazilian opponent’s service four times during the 83-minute victory. She will next face Swiss second seed Belinda Bencic, who posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Donna Vekic of Croatia.

Top-seeded Anett Kontaveit of Estonia outlasted Belgium’s Ysaline Bonaventure 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Kontaveit’s semifinal opponent will be countrymate Kaia Kanepi, who beat Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (6).

Parma Ladies Open

Semifinal play in Italy was postponed to Saturday due to heavy rain and will be contested on the same day as the title match.

Top-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece will meet Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in one semi, and sixth-seeded Ana Bogdan of Romania will oppose Mayar Sherif of Egypt in the other.
