North Carolina star receiver Josh Downs will miss Saturday’s game at Appalachian State, multiple outlets reported.

The junior has a lower body injury and did not warm up with the Tar Heels (1-0) before the contest in Boone, N.C.

Downs led North Carolina with nine catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s 56-24 season-opening win against Florida A&M.

He earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2021 with 101 receptions for 1,335 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games.
