The Seattle Mariners reinstated left-hander Matthew Boyd from the 60-day injured list and recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.
Rosters expanded from 26 to 28 players on Thursday.
Boyd, 31, was acquired in an Aug. 2 trade with San Francisco. He hasn’t pitched in the majors this year following forearm flexor tendon surgery. The Giants placed him on the 60-day IL on March 27 with a left elbow strain.
Boyd was 3-8 with a 3.89 ERA in 15 starts last season for Detroit. The Seattle-area native owns a 37-62 career record and a 4.96 ERA in 149 games (145 starts) with the Toronto Blue Jays (2015) and Tigers (2015-21).
Trammell, 24, is batting .235 with three homers and nine RBIs in 32 games this year with the Mariners. He batted .333 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 22 games at Triple-A Tacoma.
