The North Carolina Courage announced the signing Saturday of Danish forward Rikki Madsen through 2023.

Madsen, 25, arrives from the Spanish club Madrid CFF, where she scored one goal in 12 matches.

“I’m very happy to sign with North Carolina,” Madsen said in a news release. “I think we’re a fabulous match and I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.”

She also has one goal in 18 appearances with the Denmark women’s national team.

“To add someone with the experience that Rikke has had in her career will only help strengthen our roster,” Courage coach Sean Nahas said. “Fresh out of the Euros this Summer we are fortunate to have her join our club. We look forward to having her here and helping us build towards the future. We want to continue to build something special here and this is yet another piece of that puzzle.”

Before joining Madrid, Madsen tallied five goals and six assists in 47 games (42 starts) with Norway’s Valerenga.
