Chet Holmgren’s season-ending foot injury was an instant gain for some in the NBA futures betting market.

PointsBet paid out wins to bettors who held tickets on the “under” win total of 25.5 for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday when the news became official.

Without Holmgren, the Thunder are a preposterous +24000 to win the Northwest Division at FanDuel.

The No. 2 pick is also cleared out of the Rookie of the Year futures pool, where he climbed into a tight race with No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic on the energy of his stellar Summer League showing.

But with Holmgren done for the season, the Rookie of the Year odds shifted strongly in favor of Banchero and Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray.

Prior to his Lisfranc tear, Holmgren spiked to +375 at BetMGM and +325 at FanDuel, rating just behind Banchero at both books.

As of Friday morning, BetMGM and FanDuel moved Banchero to +200. He represents 25 percent of total tickets at BetMGM in that futures market, behind only Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey (29.1 percent).

At FanDuel, Ivey and Murray are even at +500 and No. 3 overall pick Jabari Smith of the Houston Rockets is +600.

Murray is now +500 at BetMGM, up from +650 before Holmgren was hurt.
