NBA: Hornets exercise option on F Jalen McDaniels

The Charlotte Hornets exercised their 2022-23 option on small forward Jalen McDaniels on Tuesday.

He’ll make $1.93 million next season.

McDaniels, 24, appeared in 55 games (two starts) last season, averaging 6.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per game in his third season in the NBA. He shot 48.4 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range, both career highs.

Drafted in the second round in 2019 by Charlotte, the 6-foot-9 McDaniels has averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest with the Hornets in 118 career games (20 starts).
