The Detroit Pistons traded eight-year forward Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025 first-round pick, ESPN and The Oregonian reported.

The pick originally belonged to Milwaukee and is protected Nos. 1-4, per ESPN. The teams also swapped second-round picks in the 2022 and future drafts, per the reports.

Grant is entering the final year of a three-year, $60 million deal he inked as part of a sign-and-trade between the Denver Nuggets and Pistons in November 2020.

Shipping Grant gives the Pistons $43 million in salary cap space heading into free agency, ESPN reported.

Grant, 28, emerged as an offensive threat in his two seasons in Detroit. He averaged 20.9 points in 101 starts for the Pistons, though a calf injury ended his 2021-22 season in March. He also missed six weeks with a thumb injury earlier in the season.

Grant’s previous best was 13.6 points per game in 2018-19 with Oklahoma City.

Overall, the 6-foot-8 Grant averages 11.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 555 games (270 starts) for the Philadelphia 76ers, Thunder, Denver Nuggets and Pistons. The Sixers selected Grant in the second round of the 2014 draft.
